i39 (2-5 April 2010) has announced that a Halo 3 tournament will not take place at the upcoming event. Attendees that have paid for the tournament and event entrance are welcome to receive a full refund by contacting the Multiplay Support Site. In the runup to i39, more tournament announcements are expected and "something special" is to be revealed in the exhibition area.

Quote From Rob Hodson (Multiplay):
"There just isn't the uptake we have seen previously and running a prize winning tournament for the game just isn't viable."

'Be A Hero' For Haiti PDF Print E-mail
Written by Sabre0001
Tuesday, 19 January 2010 21:05

Bungie has launched a 'Haiti Appeal' with three ways for people and players to support. Firstly, in the Bungie Store, there is a special edition of the Superintendent t-shirt. 100% of the profits will go directly to the relief efforts through the American Red Cross. In addition to this, all of Bungie's profits from the store, from now until the end of February, will go directly to the American Red Cross. This only applies to Bungie apparel and accessories but if you have had your eye on a keepsake, now is the time to buy. Unfortunately, Bungie does not ship internationally.

HOWEVER, the third method of donating is open to all and it's as simple as playing a game... For every 1,000 players that take part in an online game of Halo 3 or Halo: ODST between 00:01 PST, Wednesday January 21st (08:01 GMT) and 23:59 PST, Thursday 22nd (07:59 GMT, Friday 23rd) , Bungie will donate $100. By playing Halo using the special uniform (outlined below), gamers can help raise up to $77,000 for Red Cross and the people of Haiti.

Play HALO; Raise Money:
1. Round up all of your friends and hop online with Halo 3 or ODST any time next from 00:01AM PST Wednesday, 1/20, through 23:59PM PST Thursday 1/21.

2. Edit your appearance settings so your character is wearing the RED HEART emblem.
a. Press START
b. Select “SETTINGS” / “APPEARANCE”
c. Select “EMBLEM”
d. Select “Hearts” ICON, “Circle” BACKGROUND
e. Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select “COLORS”
f. Set “EMBLEM PRIMARY” to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you’re playing!)
g. Set “EMBLEM SECONDARY” to WHITE

3. Once your emblem is set, play! This can be a custom game or a matchmaking game, just make sure it’s played online, on Xbox LIVE, or we can’t track it.

If you keep playing more games through midnight on Thursday, KEEP THE HEART EMBLEM ENABLED or you may not get counted.
