Galway Starcraft 2 Tournament Announced

 Squareyes in Galway is set to play host to a Starcraft 2 tournament (8-9 October 2010). Registration has opened and will close on October 4th. In order to register, interested players must complete a registration form and pay the €20 registration fee via PayPal or at the venue. The player (Columc / Toxick / Vanyd) behind the event has a range of experience with a number of fun tournaments, leagues and LANs under his belt.

Registration Details:
To register for this event you may:
Email toxick[at]gmail{dot}com with the registration form filled out. With subject name “Registration to Starcraft 2 tournament”. You must also agree to the Rules and Regulations by stating in the email “I <NAME> agree to the following rules and regulations to the Starcraft 2 Tournament”.
You may also hand in the register form and a signed copy of the Rules and regulations to Squareyes on Forster Street, Galway(Forms are provided on the counter). If you register this way you have to prepay with the €20(form wont be supplied until Wednesday the 15th of August)

To prepay for the event you may:
Transfer €20 over to toxick@gmail.com via PayPal. When filling out please supply your name, email address and your username. Please Send an email to toxick@gmail.com with subject name “Prepaid for Starcraft 2 tournament” and supply your name email address and date of transfer.
If you cant prepay by paypal or are not in Galway city. You can also email toxick@gmail.com and we can work on another process.

Tournament Details
Dates: Friday 8th and Saturday 9th October 2010
Times: Friday - Games Start at 19:00. Saturday - Games Start at 12:00
Tournament Type: Double Elimination
Matches: The First few Rounds will be a Best of 1 (Bo1) games. Quater-finals will be Best of 3 (Bo3). Semi-finals will be Best of 5 (Bo5) and the finals will be Best of 5 (Bo5)

Midlans 2010 Announced

After an extended hiatus, the Midlans crew is pleased to announce a 2010 edition of the LAN. Midlans 2010 (20-22 August 2010) will take place at the Streete Community Centre in County Westmeath. There are 400 player spaces available with a weekend of fun, games and tournaments promised.

The event will cost €30 to attend although those who are interested in attending specifically for the Street Fighter tournament are entitled to a discount and will pay €20. A number of tournaments are to be run with more to be unveiled in the run-up to the LAN. Games to be played over the course of the weekend are not limited to the tournament games and will include titles such as Battlefield, Unreal Tournament, Supreme Commander 2 and Quake 3 Arena among many others.

JuneLAN Confirmed

JuneLAN, to be hosted at The Netcafé in  Longford, has been confirmed. The LAN will kick off at 20:00 GMT on June 5th and conclude at 16:00 GMT on June 7th. It has been suggested that this could be the last LAN hosted at The Netcafé which looks to be closing in a matter of weeks. Cherryghost has stated that he would like to "go out with a bang".

Irish EVO Qualifier Details Finalised

 Ireland's EVO 2010 Qualifier featuring Super Street Fighter IV is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 29th 2010. The  Xtreme Gaming Centre (Liffey Street, Dublin) has been confirmed as the venue after unforeseen circumstances forced a move away from  Gamesnash Live. Entry to the tournament costs €20 with the winner earning a trip to Las Vegas to participate in EVO 2010.

Event Schedule:
Registration and casual play starts 12.30pm
Registration and casual play closes 1.30pm
Tournament starts at 2pm
Tournament ends 6pm.
Presentation 6.30pm
Close 7pm

Day Of Champions Announced

The newly launched Streetfighter.ie is pleased to announce a competition with a little bit of diversity. The 'Day of Champions' will feature four fighting games and all in the name of charity. The Day of Champions will take place on May 22nd and each tournament will kick off at 14:00 GMT. Participants are advised to arrive early to register their interest and warm up beforehand.

Attendance will cost €5 for console rental with each tournament costing €1 to enter. Proceeds will go to charity but there is a special €20 prize to anyone that can place top three in three tournaments.

Soul Calibur 4

The Xtreme Gaming Centre, Dublin will host the event.

Over 24 hours of QuakeLive beta beeing down, tons of tears and shattered dreams - finally it's ... well, not online yet but Official.

"After being down for a day, QUAKE LIVE players missing their online fragging fix can return to action later today — as the game has officially exited beta! In addition to the ‘Standard’ free-to-play version, in a press release today, we’ve announced ‘Premium’ and ‘Pro’ subscriptions — adding new maps, game modes, and plenty more. Details below…"

Intel Extreme Masters QL - Gamescom with kRoNic ? PDF Print E-mail

Second event in the ESL Intel Extreme Masters - season 5 - will be held in Cologne. During one of the largest games trade fair in the world, Gamescom 2010, 16 players will be 'fighting' for $10,000. 14 spots are already determined, rapha, av3k, Cooller, Spart1e - to name a few of attending stars.
What about two remaining spots? It's simple, just join Season V gamescom QL Online Qualifier, place in the top2 and you are in. On Wednesday, 11th of August 2010,  at 17:00 BST our very own kRoNic, will be competing against such players as Jibo, abso, tox1c and Krysa to earn the 'ticket' to Cologne.

After a rather successful campaign in the Clanabse EuroCup XXI - QuakeLive Duel tournament, and great performance in the ESL Pro Series UK, the Irish beast is ready for some newbie blood. On Wednesday, 4th of August, kRoNic will face some less known players that managed to qualify to the QL Duel Summer Cup 2010. Brackets can be found on the Clanbase website. We expect nothing less than top3 or else. Good luck!

ESports Heaven Announces Second Quake Live One Night Wonder PDF Print E-mail

After the success of last week's Quake Live One Night Wonder Cup, ESports Heaven has decided to run another tonight. The number of player slots has been set at 32 although this may be raised if there is enough interest. The tournament runs as a single elimination bracket with all games using a best-of-one format until the final. The final then switches to a best-of-three match. Once again, players are competing for bragging rights although it is expected that in the future, there will be hardware or cash prizes on offer.

ESports Heaven's first Quake Live One Night Wonder tournament takes place tonight. Due to increased demand, the number of player slots available has been increased to 64. The competitors will compete in a single elimination bracket. There are currently no prizes at stake besides bragging rights but this tournament is to be run as a test run for potentially bigger tournaments.

ESports Heaven Announces First Quake Live One Night Wonder PDF Print E-mail

ESports Heaven is back with another One Night Wonder Tournament but for the first time, Quake Live players will take centre stage. This is the first of potentially many as ESports Heaven states that "over the next few weeks we will be running several small and bigger One Night Wonder as we dabble around with the rules, formats and overall plans we have for Quake Live".

32 players are set to take part although more slots may be made available if there is sufficient demand. These players will compete in a single elimination bracket. The tournament gets underway at 19:00 GMT on March 18th.

Schedule:

19:20 GMT - Round 2 - elimination
19:40 GMT - Round 3 - elimination

The Bring it Back Safely Capture The Flag league for Quake Live teams enters it's third season for European teams and second season for North American teams. 85 teams have signed up for the upcoming seasons while other teams may be welcome if they contact the administrators on IRC in in #BiBS @ QuakeNet or GameSurge.

The first draft of preliminary seedings has been made for both regions. Many teams are unplaced as yet as a result of a lack of time and/or information. Teams are advised that if they have been placed into a division incorrectly, or realise that another team has, they should contact the administration team here. Seedings will be finalised on Marco 26th.

Last Chance To Dance: ESL Pro Series Qualifiers PDF Print E-mail

Quake Live players from Ireland and UK are being given three more opportunities to qualify for the ESL Pro Series. The Quake Live Pro Series has a prize pot of £760 in addition to win bonuses. There are currently thirteen players including kRoNic, GaRpY, zsx and VIZARI in the Pro Series. The winner of each cup will join them. Each qualifier will take the format of a single elimination, best of three bracket.

Qualification Cups:
Wednesday 3rd March (Sign up) - Cup begins at 20:00 GMT
Thursday 4th March (Sign up) - Cup begins at 20:00 GMT
Sunday 7th March (Sign up) - Cup begins at 20:00 GMT

Interested participants are advised that confirmation of participation is required by using the sign up link after 19:00 GMT. Players who qualify for the ESL Pro Series must have an ESL Premium account and must include their full name, age, city and photo in their ESL Profile.

Additional Videostream Set Up For Quake Live Global Finals PDF Print E-mail

The Intel Extreme Masters Global Finals (2-6 March 2010) are rapidly approaching and a late announcement has been made. There are to be 36 Quake Live matches over the course of the tournament. ESL TV are to provide coverage with in-depth analysis and shoutcasting and will have a second channel, ESL TV - B, which will provide video coverage with no commentary. ESL Radio are also stepping in and will provide an additional videostream. What this means for Quake Live fans is that over the course of the tournament, only three matches will be uncovered.
